  1. McLineup. Cute.

But come on. The guy is a walk-on. No need to ridicule in such a public way. Now the coach who used the line=up, endless opportunities to criticize.

I think a couple of times he was so far out on the floor he had a player between him and sideline. How about fitting him with one of those dog collars? Wanders out of his allocated space and electric shock is activated. That would lead to tough calls for BTN. Use the Mark Cuban 3-D replay system for the last IU turnover or CTC’s reaction as he steps onto the court…

    1. Ron,
If you read the column, the McLineup refers to McSwain, McRoberts and the McDonald’s All-Americans of Bryant and Blackmon, and I said it wasn’t the players’ fault, it was the coach’s.

  2. Hold the pickle,
    Hold the clapping fest,
    Special walk-ons don’t upset us,
All we ask is Crean let Martin,
    Coach us his way….

No McLineup….? I’d rather flame-broil our “Whopper” of a coach.

  3. Thanks Jeremy. True, did not read.

I should have realized, you guys have always been straight with the coverage. Which also means the major national news outlets will have no interest in you all.

  4. Ron- It was all in ScoopTalk. You must watch the ScoopTalk.

It took 9 years to finally get some soft commentary aimed a bit Crean’s direction…This is encouraging. Maybe by 2030 there will be some actual critique without cute hamburger chain metaphors.

  5. It’s that time of year when the annual CTC Death Watch picks up momentum.

Last year the team responded by completely turning things around and winning the conference. At this point, a repeat performance does not seem likely. This team looks like a collection of pricey Italian sports cars being used in a demolition derby.

So, who wants to offer up the over/under on what would end his tenure at IU? Would a single season catastrophe do it a year after a conference title? Is he one of those guys who can get away with anything as long as he says the right buzz words? Would a 6th place finish doom him?

  6. Might physical and constant meaningful movement + quickness not seen very often in current IU men’s basketball era even when they won mediocre conference championships. That is why they have only one sweet 16 championship.

  7. So I turn on the Duke game and there’s Grayson Allen….”Indefinite suspension” is a one game absence? What a joke.

Georgia Tech coming off a win against mighty UNC and they lose by 53 @ Duke…? Kansas barely survives @ Kansas St. It appears that a win against IPFW, Butler, Nebraska, or Wisconsin would have proved a lot more than beating Kansas in a season opener or UNC in Assembly.

  8. ND over Louisville …..Butler over Villanova. Indiana over there in Bloomington has a pretty campus with lots of trees.
