IUWBB: Purdue at Indiana

FINAL: Indiana 74, Purdue 60.

END OF THIRD: Indiana 50, Purdue 46. Alexis Gassion drains a midrange jumper at the buzzer. Tyra Buss with 14 points, Amanda Cahill with 13 and Kym Royster with 12.

2:37 (3Q): Amanda Cahill has scores six points in this quarter, on two jumpers and a pair of free throws. But Purdue is hot offensively right now. Boilermakers are 6-of-10 from the field, and trail 46-44.

6:29 (3Q): Amanda Cahill came out for the start of the third quarter, and has played. She is looking a little ginger on that left ankle, but is able to function. She hit a baseline jumper to start the half. IU leads 38-34.

HALFTIME: Indiana 32, Purdue 28. Tyra Buss leads the Hoosiers with 14 points. But the big news is the injury to Amanda Cahill. Will keep an eye out to see if she returns for the bench. Hoosiers will look very different without her, possibly with freshman Darby Foresman stepping in at the four.

7:14 (2Q): IU leads 29-23, but injury news. Amanda Cahill came off the floor with an apparent leg injury. She walked back to the locker room, with trainers walking close by.

7:37 (2Q): Indiana on an 8-0 run in the second quarter, including 3s from Tyra Buss (great ball movement in the halfcourt) and then Amanda Cahill with a trailer 3. IU leads 21-17.

END OF FIRST: Purdue 17, Indiana 11. Boilermakers’ top-ranked scoring defense in the Big Ten showing out. IU hit 4-of-16 from field.  Tyra Buss leads with four points. Freshman Lamina Cooper leads Purdue with seven points.

4:47 (1): Neither team shooting particularly well to start. IU is 2-of-10 from the floor. Purdue is 2-of-8. IU leads 5-4, with those points coming from a Karlee McBride 3 and an Amanda Cahill drive.

Indiana (12-6, 2-3 Big Ten) will host Purdue (12-7, 3-2 B1G) at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall tonight. Hoosiers lost both games on their recent road swing and will look to rebound. The Boilermakers had won three in a row before dropping a five-point game to Ohio State.

  1. K. McBride played better 2nd half and later in game. Royster played really well. K . McBride does give IU a big body and takes up room. She is usually good for a couple 3’s but can be costly misses a few too.
