IUWBB: Hoosiers add Withrow as a walk-on

Indiana has added junior Grace Withrow as a walk-on.

Withrow, a 5-foot-4 guard, was a 1,000-point scorer at Valparaiso High School. She made the team following a tryout this offseason.

The news of her addition was first reported by the Times of Northwest Indiana. Withrow was present at IU’s practice Monday, bringing the Hoosiers roster to 12 players.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the roster for Indiana women’s basketball this season,” Withrow said in a statement released by IU. “I’ve been afforded a unique opportunity, especially as a junior in college, to be part of such a great program and I’m looking forward to getting started with the Hoosiers.”

  1. Glad we could get a new, more positive, happy go lucky #5 to replace ria gulley. I’m sure you guys all saw what ria gulley had to say about our beloved program with excellent chemistry

  2. Pretty sure they needed her but it woyld have been nice to add a bigger player but with walk on’s you take what you can get they may have 12 but 2 aren’t eligible until next year

  3. How true Im surprised they would say 12 knowing two transfers are not eligible. At least it does give us another body to put on the floor. Looking forward to the season with great anticipation. You can tell in Morens voice that expects this to be a very good team, maybe not early but by mid-season.

  4. I think the first half of the season will be the good half, based on looking at the schedule. I think this will be interesting with freshmen getting big minutes.

  5. Hopefully they can get a few wins under their belt before they face Louisville , who I believe will be top ten on Nov 30th.

  6. I really liked the Seniors we lost last year.
Good team players who all played hard.
In my mind, it will be hard for the freshmen to fill the large void they leave behind.
BUT, if Kim Royster comes on like I hope she does, I think we could be pretty good.

Grace Withrow should really enjoy being part of the Hoosier program.
    Good for her!
