Morgan, Langford preseason All-Big Ten

Big Ten Media Day kicked off on Thursday morning with the announcement of the preseason All-Big Ten team and player of the year.

Indiana senior Juwan Morgan and freshman Romeo Langford were named to the 10-man All-Big Ten squad,as voted by the Big Ten Media Voting Panel.

Langford, a 6-foot-6 guard from New Albany, is the only freshman on the team, and the only underclassman, joining five seniors and four juniors. The 2018 Indiana Mr. Basketball and McDonald’s All-American ranks fourth all-time among Indiana high school players in scoring with 3,002 points.

The 6-8 Morgan is coming off a standout junior season that earned him second team All-Big Ten honors with 16.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. The Waynesville, Mo., native needs just 170 points to become the 52nd player in IU history to reach 1,000 career points.

Purdue’s Carsen Edwards was named the preseason player of the year in the conference. The rest of the preseason All-Big Ten teams consists of Maryland’s Anthony Cowan, Michigan’s Charles Matthews, Nick Ward and Cassius Winston of Michigan State, Minnesota’s Jordan Murphy, Nebraska’s James Palmer Jr. and Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ.
