Langford named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week

For the second time this season, Romeo Langford has landed weekly honors as the league’s top newcomer.

This time, the Indiana guard shares the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week award with Michigan’s Ignas Brazdeikis.

Langford averaged 19.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists, while shooting 50 percent from the field across IU’s victories last week against Penn State and Louisville. The New Albany native totaled a team-high 21 points in IU’s come-from-behind win over the Cardinals on Saturday. He did so after posting a game-high 17 points at Penn State on Tuesday, helping the Hoosiers to a 2-0 start to conference season.

“Congrats to him,” IU coach Archie Miller said. “Well-earned, obviously. He had a good week. I think he’s also had good weeks when he didn’t win it. … He’s answered the bell for us here through 10 games.”

Purdue guard Carsen Edwards and Wisconsin forward Ethan Happ also split Big Ten Player of the Week honors.
