Gameday central: Indiana at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Indiana hasn’t knocked off an undefeated team in January since beating Wisconsin in 2014.

The Hoosiers will try again this afternoon at Michigan.

The Wolverines are off to a 14-0 start to the season, boasting an elite defense that is ranked third nationally in adjusted efficiency.

“I’m not sure they’re surprising if you watched their team grow over the course of (last) January, February and their run in March,” IU coach Archie Miller said on his pregame radio show. “You can’t help but think the guys that came back and played in that national championship would come back ready to play. They have. If you look at their returners, whether it be (Jon) Teske, (Zavier) Simpson or (Jordan) Poole or (Charles) Matthews, they’re connected. They know how to win. They don’t get sped up. They’re good one-on-one defenders and they’ve developed a nice identity.”

Indiana remains short-handed, without the services of point guard Rob Phinisee and forwards Jake Forrester, Race Thompson and Jerome Hunter. All four accompanied the team on its flight to Ann Arbor. They’re not available, but they’re in the building.

The Hoosiers may also have to deal with another injured player throughout the course of the day. Miller said before the game that junior forward De’Ron Davis tweaked an ankle in Thursday’s win over Illinois.

“He has a very sore ankle,” Miller said. “He’s about 80 percent to help us. If not, Clifton Moore will play a big role.”

  1. I think we all saw this coming. Would have been nice if they at least made it interesting. We are so far away from being Elite. Morgan plays stupid sometime with early foul trouble. It was over when Romeo and Morgan were on the bench early. At least I can watch football now and not worry about changing back and forth.

  2. Jordan Poole showing Langford what it takes to be a 1st rounf NBA pick…..Langford cant shoot his way out of a paper bag and don’t EVEN get me started on FITZNER……what a complete and Dismal failure he has become. Fitzner demonstrating WHY he lost his starting job as a senior. Charles Matthews showing Langford what extra year in college will produce
