Hoosiers Hysteria date, time is set

Indiana men’s and women’s basketball will kick things off with Hoosier Hysteria on Oct. 5 at 4 p.m.

The event, held at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, will be free of charge. Fans are asked to donate a canned food item to benefit the Hoosier Hills Food Bank.

IU men’s basketball will be going into its third season under head coach Archie Miller, while the women’s program is in its sixth year under Teri Moren.

More details on the event will be released as they become available.

  1. Our banners may no longer be able to reproduce. Hoosier Hysterectomy… We can always adopt a football, I suppose….

  2. By October 4 (past years) is the time when fans have enough of football and they can’t stands no more! (unless Popeye comes to the rescue this year). As fans get tired of watching big ten Brutus and Bluto beat up the Hoosiers week after week they are ready for Hoosier hysteria by about October 4. Very fitting. Is Popeye going to come to the rescue this year? Then, now it’s been a long time that the October 4 (this year) Hoosier Hysteria becomes the hysterical laughter of Brutus and Bluto because Popeye can’t find his spinach and Popeye is no where to be found.

  3. Bob Knight was 47 at the time of our last banner…Also mind-blowing.

It was 1987. Nothing was gonna stop us! Little did we know

  4. Mickey Thomas…Damn, he could hit the high notes in that ’87 Starship tune. Wait for it…Wait for it. Sara! Sara! Jane, you’re playing a game!

And very few people know he was the voice behind “Fool Around and Fell in Love.”

    I digress….

  5. We need to bring Mickey Thomas to Bloomington…He was belting out ‘Fooled Around and Fell in Love’ when we won it all in 1976. Our banners have a connection to Mickey Thomas hits. Each of three years we won our three most recent banners, Mickey was singing a tune hitting the Billboard Chart’s Top-3!

Fooled Around and Fell in Love (#3 in 1976)
Find Your Way Back (#3 in 1981)
Nothing is Gonna Stop Us (#1 in 1987).
