IU’s Wise finalist for Senior CLASS Award

Indiana senior forward Brenna Wise was named as one of 10 final candidates for the women’s basketball Senior Class Award on Wednesday.

The honor focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Wise is a two-year team captain for the Hoosiers and has started every game she has played at Indiana in that span. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native is averaging 8.5 points and a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game this season. For her career, Wise has scored over 1,300 career points and grabbed 750 rebounds between her first two years at Pitt and final two years at IU. She was a second team All-Big Ten selection as a junior on the court.

Off the court, Wise is a double major in marketing and professional sales in IU’s Kelley School of Business with a 3.89 GPA and has been named Academic All-Big Ten and CoSIDA Academic All-District.

Wise is also an executive member of the IU Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has volunteered her time with countless organizations including Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers, Emerging Leaders, Hoosier HEROES, Hoosier Readers, IU Best Buddies, Camp Riley, Hoosier Outrun Cancer, the Candy Stripe Crew event for disabled and handicapped adult and children, Slam Dunk for Literacy and Habitat for Humanity.

Nationwide fan voting begins immediately at www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/ to help select the winner. Voting runs through March 23 when fan votes will be combined with those of media and Division I head coaches to determine the winner, which will be announced during the Women’s Final Four.

  1. Congrats to B.W. and impressive student involvement.
Seems rather stupid message says return and vote as many times as you like after going through image indentications each time.

  2. Another terrific honor for IU women’s basketball, quality people on the Hoosier roster to say the least. This program continues to excel at all levels! Go Hoosiers!!

  3. Terrific honor for Brenna but not a surpise. Its easy to tell she is an excellent student-athlete and her intelligence comes out when you hear her speak. Ali and Brenna are not only a good 1-2 punch on the court but the classroom as well,,, congrats!!

  4. Mike C. The high character of IU Ladies basketball team you note implemented by T. Moren and rest of coaching staff is one of the best things going not just in sports but in anything at IU. That makes it very easy to cheer for the IU Ladies.

  5. The bus driver bringing the ladies back from Purdue told me something very interesting.
He said he drives for all sorts of different teams and the IU women “don’t have the usual D1 attitude, they’re all really nice and great to work with.”
That says a lot to me.
Brenna Wise is a credit to IU, and t nails it with it’s “very easy to cheer for the IU Ladies.”
