Alabama PG Peterson commits to IU women

The Indiana women’s basketball team picked up its third commitment for the 2021 recruiting class and second in the last seven days when 5-foot-9 point guard Kaitlin Peterson of Eufaula, Ala., announced her decision on Twitter Friday afternoon.

Peterson becomes the top-rated recruit in the 2021 class, checking in at No. 31 according to Prospects Nation and No. 44 according to All Star Girls Report. She joins Australian wing Paige Price and Rockmart, Ga., guard Keyarah Berry in the Hoosiers’ class of 2021. George Mason transfer Nicole Hillary-Cardano will also be eligible in 2021 after sitting out a season. IU still has three available scholarships left for what could be a large recruiting class.

Peterson averaged 23.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 5.5 steals per game as a junior in helping the Tigers reach the Southeast Regional semifinals before falling despite 38 points from their floor leader. Peterson was named 6A first team all-state and one of three finalists for 6A Player of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association, third team across all classifications on the Super All-State squad and was the Dothan Eagle Super 12 Player of the Year. Peterson has scored over 2,000 career points and also carries a 3.4 GPA in the classroom.

Below are some highlights.

  1. Another good recruit by T. Moren and staff. 3 star @ 90 per espn. If T. Moren ever gets the IU Ladies to the final four it will be a huge tribute to her coaching, leadership, and player development ability by T.Moren and staff.
I think the college Ladies basketball players are more interested in a college education than on the men’s side overall including top players. The reason is because there aren’t the big pro ball player money opportunities as on the men’s side. Another side note: have to respect K. Warthen as she has maintained her role on team with a big smile on her face and enters her senior year staying with team and seems to enjoy her college experience. So far. Good for K. Warthen.

  2. I just looked at hoopgurls 2021 and they have both Berry and Peterson listed at #100 so somthing is amiss, espn has the same stats for both players. Peterson looks plenty quick and being 6a all state first team and up for top 3 best player in the state whatever Al. calls mvp, miss basketball whatever, speaks for itself, Plus we have also Price and Hillary to add to the mix.

    1. Upon further review, ESPN has a glitch where all the players with a 90 rating are listed as No. 100 (Berry is first alphabetically), so I just threw them out of the equation.

  3. Another fine looking recruit for the Hoosiers! Quick and athletic as the video shows. We keep piling up athletic players which is what you need in today’s game to succeed! Good size at the point guard is a vital need and we keep adding those types of players to our roster. Go Hoosiers!
