KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 25 – This metropolis will be the scene of the battle which will decide the national collegiate basketball championship this Saturday night as two high-powered outfits from Kansas and Indiana Universities meet in Municipal Auditorium in the final game.Indiana comes out of the Eastern Regional with a 39-30 win over Duquesne of Pittsburgh in the deciding battle at Indianapolis, while Kansas will represent the Western division, which includes all schools west of the Mississippi river.The Jayhawks pulled a surprise on Southern California in the final Saturday night, coming from behind in the last half to win by a score of 43-42. The Trojans, who led 21-20 at the intermission, could not withstand the last minute drive of “Phog” Allen’s men.The Rice Institute Owis won third place in the Western playoff by winning an overtimer from Colorado, recent winners of the Metropolitan Invitational meet, 60-56. A Colorado basket in the last 90 seconds tied the game up 50-50 and sent the players into extra minutes.
