Hoeppner surgery at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday

At an early Tuesday evening press conference, Indiana coach Terry Hoeppner said an MRI taken last Friday showed changes in the area where he had a brain tumor removed in late December. He said he’s hoping that surgery at 10:30 Wednesday will reveal only scar damage, but there’s enough of a chance they will find a tumor that he took doctors’ advice to have surgery right away.

Hoeppner said he and his doctors are optimistic that even if a tumor has to be removed, he will have a quick recovery like he did last winter and be able to return to the sidelines in two to four weeks.

“We’re all day-to-day, you know,” Hoeppner said with a smile. “Two weeks, the Big Ten season, that’s my goal.”
