Indiana 3, IUPUI 2 (OT)

Well, that got interesting. I usually go down to the field to watch the game up close for the last 10 minutes or so. As soon as I did that, IUPUI responded with two goals to tie the game against Indiana’s second team.

The Hoosiers put their first team back in for the OT and Kevin Noschang won the game with a left-footed chip shot just 1:38 into the period.

A complete game story can be found in Wednesday’s Herald-Times.

36:44, 2nd half: Brian Ackley just buried a cross from Kevin Noschang to make it 2-0.

Noschang ran onto a ball, muscled toward the net and sent a cross along the goal mouth. Ackley came flying in from the right and buried a shot hight.

End of first half: Indiana has had a few chances but no nearly as many as it should have against an overmatched Jaguars team.

Kevin Noschang had the best chance of the first half, streaking in alone from the top right corner of the box before firing a shot that looked to hit IUPUI keeper Drew Deffner in the face.

30:31, 1st half: Josh Tudela drilled a pass from Eric Alexander along the ground and inside the far post to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.

Tudela now has two goals in the last three games, and Alexander, a freshman, has registered points each of those games, too.

I’m here at Armstrong Stadium for tonight’s soccer game. I’ll bring you updates when the scoring starts.

A few roster notes for the Hoosiers: Chris Munroe is making his first start in net since the third game of the year, and freshman back Ofori Sarkodie is out with a broken nose. He’s being fitted for a mask today and will have his nose worked on tomorrow by a doctor. He should be available after that.
