It is in him: Gordon honored by Gatorade

Future Indiana Hoosier Eric Gordon was named the Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year today.

Gordon, who led North Central High School to the Class 4A state championship game this season, averaged 29.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game this season. The Gatorade award is given not only for athlete’s play on the court, but off as well (cue infomercial music, here). Last year’s Gatorade winner was Lawrence North’s Greg Oden.

With the state title in hand, Gordon will now be eligible for the Gatorade national Player of the Year award. Gordon’s competition for the award includes Oregon’s Kevin Love, West Virginia’s O.J. Mayo, Massachusetts’s Michael Beasley and Illinois’s Derrick Rose.
