Saturday recruiting report

Intern Brian Buckey made the sojourn to Indianapolis today to catch a few games at the Hoosier Shootout. He watched Indiana Elite’s 16-under entry — which was playing in the 17-under age group — that features at least three players Indiana is interested in: forward Stephan Van Treese, small forward D.J. Byrd and guard Colt Ryan.

But Bloomington South’s Jordan Hulls was the player who caught Buckey’s attention, scoring 36 and 18 points for Indiana Elite. He had eight 3-pointers in the first game and five in the second.

Both Byrd and Van Treese are fighting through injuries. Byrd found out he has extra bones in his foot and is in a boot. He might not play again until high school ball. Van Treese hurt his ankle Friday and was having trouble with it today, too.
