Former players talk Indiana basketball

From this morning’s Coaches vs. Cancer event

Brian Evans on the nervous excitement he used to feel as he’d arrive at Assembly Hall: “It still does the same thing. When I see this building, I get excited.”

Evans on this year’s team: “There’s just a real buzz about this season like I haven’t seen in a long time.”

Evans on the frequent questions he gets about IU’s highly touted recruits: “I follow the team on the court. I have no clue on recruits.”

Kyle Hornsby on his memories of getting ready for Midnight Madness with his teammates in the locker room: “You would have thought you had four-year-olds, all with attention deficit disorder, who are bouncing off the walls waiting to get out there.”

Hornsby on IU’s program: “I think we’re on the way up. I think we’re bringing a nice shine to the IU reputation. I hope it continues.”

Former player and current Director of Basketball Operations Dan Dakich joking about former teammate and current IU basketball radio broadcaster Todd Leary: “Let’s face it. The only reason we went after Leary was we wanted Eric Montross.”

Bonus Quote from Kelvin Sampson:

“Eric Gordon is good. He can score. But I want to know if he can guard.”

  1. Chris and/or Doug, I have a favor to ask of you. Will you be blogging from Hoosier Hysteria? If so, think you could make a post once the volleyball game has officially ended? That way I can know when to leave and head over to the Hall. Thanks!!!

  2. Jeff,

We will be blogging. Hoosier Hysteria can be a crazy event, but I’ll try my best to make sure we let you know when volleyball is over.

  3. Doug,

Since you’ll be blogging tonight, I’d like to know the instant the band raises the instruments so I know when to board my private jet from Utah to make the trip.

    Thanks, Karl

  4. I thought all Karl Malone quotes/comments were written in 3rd person?

And yes Karl(?) the IU pep band rocks!
