Halftime thoughts

Jordan Crawford.

The Hoosiers are playing as hard tonight as they have all season.

Whether or not Indiana rallied behind their embattled coach, they are simply psyched up for the national television audience and ESPN’s College Gameday or whatever reason I don’t know about, they just put their best 20 minutes of basketball this year.

  • The main question lingering at halftime is how severe D.J. White’s injury is. If it’s going to keep him out of the half, it will undoubtedly be an enormous blow for this Hoosier squad. He’s without question the backbone of the team.
  • DeAndre Thomas put together a nice first half before picking up his second foul. He’s looked impressively smooth- if I’m allowed to use smooth to describe DeAndre Thomas- and knocked in three big shots for the Hoosiers. If D.J. White is indeed out, Thomas’ contributions will be key in the final period.
  • Eric Gordon is playing well. He’s getting the Spartans in foul trouble, which might end up being a major factor late in the contest, and is playing within himself on the offensive end.
  • Role players will be a key. Jordan Crawford, Jamarcus Ellis, Armon Bassett and Lance Stemler perhaps. At least one of them needs to help Gordon shoulder the scoring load, assuming White doesn’t return.
