IU hires Dennis Springer as running backs coach

Indiana has hired Dennis Springer as its new running backs coach, according to sources.

Springer will replace Gerald Brown who recently took a job with the Atlanta Falcons. Springer coached under Bill Lynch at Ball State for seven years before spending four years at Bowling Green and one at Western Kentucky.

He’s a Fort Wayne native who I’ve heard also played for Lynch at Butler (he was a team captain and all-conference DB), but his years playing for the Bulldogs don’t seem to match up with Lynch’s so I’m looking into that.

Springer is expected to arrive in Bloomington today.
