Holloway picks Xavier

Former Indiana basketball recruit Terrell Holloway has told Rivals.com recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer that he has decided to play at Xavier.

Holloway had signed a letter of intent with Indiana, but was released from that commitment after the resignation of Kelvin Sampson. The 6-1, 175-pound guard is rated as the No. 100 player in his class by Rivals.com. He played last season at Harmony Community School in Cincinnati while working to qualify academically to play at a Division I school.

Calls to Holloway this morning went unanswered.

  1. Well, crud. Out of the two who decommitted, Holloway was the more likely to still attend IU.

So much for that. Hope we can land a couple of solid JUCOs for next year…

  2. I’m not surprised. I can’t blame them for not wanting to play where there’s so much uncertainty. In fact, I’m to the point that it’s probably for the best if these kids don’t come to Bloomington. Talented as they may be, the program just needs to make as clean a break as possible from all things Sampson & give Crean a fresh start. It will make for some painful times in the near future but best for the overall good of the program.

  3. I don’t blame the kid. I blame Kelvin Sampson.

How many lives has he screwed up because he was too stupid, lazy or arragant to follow the rules? Current players, future players, assistant coaches and more. He turned their lives upside down, left IU in a heap and slithered away with $750,000.

I hope Sampson never gets another opportunity to damage a progam the way he did IU. When it comes to NCAA basketball he is unhireable.
