Chaplin out for the season

An IU press release just a few minutes ago confirmed what I first suspected last week, 6-foot-3 freshman Sasha Chaplin will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury suffered against Butler last week. She is to undergo surgery later this month. Chaplin averaged 4.9 points and 4.0 rebounds in eight games.

Hoosier coach Felisha Legette-Jack hinted as much in Saturday’s postgame press conference at West Virginia, saying, “… we’re going through one of the young ladies just being told she wouldn’t be able to play this year.”

Chaplin’s loss hurts IU’s depth at the post positions, something that was noticeably improved this season. Now they must turn to another freshman, 6-2 Danilsa Andujar, for some help. Jori Davis is also likely to slide into the ‘4’ spot at times.

  1. really sad. I sat with my wife and kids within 20 feet of her and she sobbed as she rolled around in pain. The way she did that was identical to the way I acted when I tore my ACL a few years back. My heart goes out to her!!! Again, I will say that this team is a lot of fun to watch! Go and catch a game if you live nearby.
