Also receiving votes

The Indiana women’s basketball team made a national debut of sorts Monday, receiving votes in the AP Top 25 poll for the first time this season. The Hoosiers (10-2), now with a nine-game winning streak, got seven votes from the pollsters, good for No. 30 this week.

The only Big Ten team ranked is Ohio State at No. 16. The Buckeyes are 12-2 overall and tied with IU at 3-0 in the conference. No other league teams got votes.

  1. J Pat,
A few reasons: (1) Usually teams have to receive votes at least a week or two before cracking the top 25; (2) The Big Ten – Michigan State’s scuffling, Purdue’s fallen out of the polls; (3) No marquee win – IU has beaten good teams like Missouri, Miami, West Virginia, MSU but lost to their two highest profile opponents, Xavier and Middle Tennessee. Both of those teams are now behind IU in the receiving votes category.

  2. Good thoughts. I figured no BIG win and seems like the conf is down for the women bball. Hope they can crack it next week. They are as good as I remember in a long time. I think Braun and Roberson actually hold back a little. This will be a fun season…no injuries please!!!
