IU women back on winning track

After seeing a nine-game winning streak die at Minnesota Thursday night, the Indiana women’s basketball team made sure the losing streak didn’t reach two with an 84-77 win at Penn State Sunday.

In a seesaw second half, Indiana (11-3, 4-1 Big Ten) pulled away from a 73-all tie with two and a half minutes left with eight straight points. All five IU starters were in double figures, led by former North standout Whitney Thomas with 19 points and six rebounds. Amber Jackson had 14 points and 12 rebounds, Jamie Braun 17 points, Jori Davis 13 points and Kim Roberson 12 points. Andrea McGuirt was the only other Hoosier to score with nine points on three first-half 3-pointers.

  1. Nice to see the IU women getting some recognition. They have a great record right now and yet get little coverage from our local papers. Tickets are free for students and just $5 for the public. Plus the tickets are general admission, what a great chance for a good seat at Assembly Hall.

  2. Today’s game was really great. The internet video was a little choppy, but you could see the team really coming through late in the game when I thought they would buckle.

  3. 5 bucks what a rip off, id rather have my two and half gallons of gas. Title 9 needs to be changed if they want to help colleges economically!

  4. They lost 2 good recruits, which sucks. But, it happens to many teams. They didn’t lose all their good recruits.

  5. Their recruiting class is not that good, you are highly delusional if u think it is. Add the absurd coaching and you have another 11th place finish by another 52 point difference from 10th to 11th~!

  6. The Women are making a name for themselves. I would like to think that more people will be going to the games now.

  7. The Womens Program has an outstanding recruit class comming in next year! I also hope to see more fans in the up-comming seasons. Coach Jack knows what our team needs and how to build around the existing tallent.

    GO Hoosiers !!!!!
