“Hey Tom, you really should try the sweatshirt on the sideline thing. It’s just so comfy!”

Tom Crean, Bill Belichick discuss something at a Florida spring football practice.

It’d be too easy to have too much fun with this.

So have at it. What’s the discussion being had here? On the left, Tom Crean (you know him.)  On the right, Bill Belichick (you likely dislike him.) They’re watching a spring practice at Florida.

  1. Two things:
    1. Is the guy in front of the frame wearing a Miami hat at the Florida spring practice?
    2. What the hell was Belichick thinking when he put on that shirt? I kind of like the Patriots (or rather, dislike those who see success and immediately become haters), but good lord is that an ugly shirt. I saw something similar on a school-sponsored tour of Europe when I was a senior in high school. Freshman in our group wore something similar, and the French guys in the subway called him a term (in French) that was very unflattering. I fully suspect that those three guys are in an Internet cafe right now somewhere in Europe, logged on to Deadspin.com and having themselves a good ol’ laugh at those Americans and their gold shirts.

  2. I’m not going to lie, I’d have thought CTC was speaking with Neil Diamond. I guess Belichick wanted to make sure the video recorders could spy him from their covert positions.

  3. Eric,

Crean was in Florida last week doing a few things — say, recruiting and getting his first commitment for the 2010 class — and while there he took his whole coaching staff to watch a Florida practice. He’s constantly doing stuff like this; he also spent some time visiting the Baltimore Ravens recently to study their organization (and, of course, visit with brother-in-law and head coach John Harbaugh.)

  4. Well, I hate the Ravens in general and Ray Lewis in particular with an unmitigated passion, but I’ll try not to hold that against Crean. I do like his brother-in-law, but as long as Ray Lewis is on the team rather than in prison, I’ll hate them.

  5. Not a huge Belichick fan. Don’t mind the gold shirt TOO much but the saggy jeans have got to go…from a woman’s point of view.

  6. It does seem like an odd choice for a game practice, that shirt should be with a disco ball somewhere in the late 70’s. LOL!
