Kirk not hearing from IU

AKRON, Ohio — Alex Kirk, a 6-foot-9.5 big man from New Mexico, said three days of nothing but drills at the LeBron James Skills Academy have made him a better player.

“I’ve learned a ton,” Kirk said. “From Stoudemire also (the Amare Stoudemire camp was held last week for big men). You just have to take it home and keep working on it.

“I need to build up base and be quicker with my moves.”

Chances are, though, that Kirk will not showing off his improved skills at Indiana.

Kirk heard from Indiana during the spring, and was even offered a scholarship.

But Kirk, Scout.com’s No. 9 center in the country for the class of 2010, said it has been a while since the Hoosiers have called him.

“Not much lately,” Kirk said. “I am still open. I don’t know much about what they have right now. It’d be fun to learn.”

Kirk played with IU target Kyrie Irving at times during Tuesday’s morning workout. He is a nice player, and had a very good no-look pass to Irving for a layup.

  1. Capo, Elston, Pritch, Bawa & Tijan don’t leave much room in the post. Williams & Kyrie (hopefully) don’t leave much room in the schollys. Should’ve accepted earlier.
