More Info On Willis

Darius Willis’s ankle injury is a recent development, according to an Indiana spokesman, and does not have anything to do with the shin problems he was having before last Thursday’s game against Eastern Kentucky.

It is not however, expected to be a long-term injury. Whether or not it will keep him out of next week’s game against Akron is uncertain.

Willis practiced Tuesday and Wednesday, practices open to the media, and the injury occurred since then.

Willis, a highly-regarded recruit from Indianapolis, is considered by some the most talented of the four running backs vying for time in the Hoosiers backfield. However, in Indiana’s season opener, he fumbled on his first carry, and managed just 3 yards on three carries. Seniors Demetrius McCray and Bryan Payton and sophomore Trea Burgess will split carries in his absence.
