Selby puts IU on list of six

Stop me if this sounds familiar: 2010 point guard lists Indiana among his top schools, but says it will be a while before he makes his commitment and, in the meantime, there won’t be any indications of which way he is leaning.

While Kyrie Irving may be, if reports are true, about to commit to Duke, Josh Selby is still on the open market.

Selby’s mother, Meashon Witherspoon, told Scout.com (subscription required) and Zagsblog.com that there are six schools that Selby, Scout’s No. 10 player in the country, is still considering.

Kansas, Syracuse, Kentucky, Miami, Baylor and Indiana, in no particular order, still have a chance. But any decision will not come until the Spring, as Weatherspoon told Adam Zagoria that they wanted to see how the teams do this season.

On one hand, this is a very good sign for Indiana. The Hoosiers came in very late on Selby, and the in-home visit apparently went very well. The longer the recruiting process goes on, the more time Tom Crean and his staff have to make up ground.

On the other hand, a strong performance this season by Jeremiah Rivers and/or Jordan Hulls could give Selby the feeling that the point guard position is very much full at Indiana.
