A newer name for 2012

If there was a pattern to Indiana’s Hoosier Hysteria attendees, it was that the vast majority came from the 2012 class.

Jared Drew, a 6-foot-4 wing from Lawrence Central, was a relatively new name in attendance.

But Drew sounded encouraged by the visit, and what he was told by Crean and assistant coach Tim Buckley.

“Coach Buckley, he wants me to come down for a visit and come see a football game or a basketball game,” Drew said during a phone conversation. “Just to get more of the feel of IU. Coach Crean just let me know they’re interested in me.”

Notre Dame, Iowa, Illinois and a host of mid-majors are also interested in Drew, though no one has pulled the trigger and offered him a scholarship.

What coaches are interested in is Drew’s ability to play multiple positions and compete on the defensive end.

“I always play hard defense on whoever I am guarding,” Drew said. “I always guard the other team’s best player.”
