Crean gets Sheehey’s letter

Tom Crean finally got Will Sheehey’s letter of intent and discussed the addition of the 6-5 guard from Florida on Saturday.

“Will Sheehey to me is a guy that is the epitome of what we want to build our program on,” Crean said. “He’s got a great basketball temperament. He’s got  real attitude to improve. He’s got athleticism. He’s not even scratching the surface with his body or with his ability to really utilize that athleticism yet, but he’s got some real skills, especially shooting the basketball. His mid-range game is outstanding. His 3-point game looks good to me with a lot of room to get better. He can finish at the basket. He finishes with a real will and resolve. That’s what we like. He’s almost 6-6, he’s grown an inch and a half, almost two inches in a year. He comes very highly recommended from one of my former coaches in Darrin Horn and a friend of mine at Syracuse named Mike Hopkins. I really respect his high school coach a lot. I respect his AAU program. He’s played high-level basketball. And then you really research him and you see what kind of family he comes from. You see how serious he is academically. You listen to him ask the questions that he has. He comes in as a true student athlete. Make no mistake about it, his athleticism along with (Victor Oladipo’s) is going to really upgrade us in a year.”

  1. Good news…but unless IU shows some marked improvement in the next couple months, I don’t think we have a shot at Selby. Right now, I think Syracuse is probably the leader for his services…
