Indiana 1, Butler 0

Will Bruin tucked his ninth goal of the season just inside the back post to push Indiana to a 1-0 win against Butler and into the third round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at Armstrong Stadium.

Indiana will face North Carolina, the No. 5 seed in the tournament, in Chapel Hill in one week.

“All we did is find a way to win,” Indiana coach Mike Freitag said. “That’s what we intend to keep doing.”

Bruin’s goal came, of course, at the 57:25 mark (the Hoosiers have now scored 23 of their 28 goals in the second half) on a play that started with senior captain Lee Hagedorn’s run down the right side. He played to Yeagle, who was able to bend a ball around the defense.

Freitag was not pleased with his team’s sloppy play in the midfield, and still sees room for improvement.
