Gordon selected to USA roster

When USA Basketball announced the 27 members of their national team Wednesday, Eric Gordon was among them.

The second-year pro, averaging 17 points a game for the Los Angeles Clippers, has a chance to be on the 12-man roster that represents USA during the 2012 Olympics.

More immediately, a group will be selected to attend a minicamp in July and then play in Turkey for the world championship. USA has not won that tournament since 1994.

  1. Kinda goes without saying that the fans who thought he would not make it in the NBA were wrong. I noticed that Ben Allen is averaging 10.8 points., 7.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists for St. Mary’s. His team is 21-3 and leading their conference ahead Gonzaga. He is 85.4 % from line and 39.2 % from 3. He is a senior and frankly he did nothing out there until this year so maybe some of our big guys will improve after a couple of years. Also the son of a former IU great, Randy Wittman, is playing for Cornell as a senior and they are having a great season at 20-3. Ryan is their leading scorer at 17.3. Cornell has been to the big dance the last 2 years. Two of their 3 losses are to Syracuse and Kansas and they gave both of them a tough game. They were ahead of Kansas with only a couple minutes to go. They might be a sleeper pick this year to go far into the big dance. They also have a 7 footer that plays well. Guys IU will be back into the thick of things in a year or 2. Keep the Faith!
