IU shuttling students to Wednesday’s volleyball match with Purdue

Indiana University officials hope to “Paint the U-Gym Red” when the 12-0 volleyball Hoosiers host 9-2 Purdue for a 7 p.m. match Wednesday. IU is offering free shuttle service from campus dormitories to University Gymnasium, the volleyball venue off 10th Street and the Ind. 45-46 Bypass.
The shuttle service will run from 5 till 10 p.m. and free tailgating is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Match admittance is also free to IU students and staff with ID The first 200 IU students new to campus this fall will receive free food and a T-shirt, and all Hoosier fans are being encouraged to don crimson.
The shuttle service and promotions are being orchestrated by IU’s Office of First Year Experience Programs. “We are continuing to educate first year students on all opportunities that IU has to offer,” Emily Arth, the office’s assistant director, wrote via e-mail this week. “Whether it is an academic lecture, a Broadway show, or in this case, a wonderful tradition of Big 10 athletics, we want to encourage all new students to immerse themselves into everything that is Indiana University.”
