UCLA at IU soccer

Indiana with a statement game today at Armstrong Stadium. Three goals for Will Bruin, a goal and two assists for Alec Purdie, and a goal and an assist for Andy Adlard. This is IU’s first five-goal game since a 6-0 win vs. Butler on Oct. 19, 2005. HOOSIERS 5, BRUINS 1

22:22: Andy Adlard steals the ball at midfield and feeds a streaking Will Bruin down the middle, and Bruin stumbles right and finishes to complete his hat trick. HOOSIERS 5, BRUINS 1

32:47: Alec Purdie sparks Indiana to a three-goal lead in a span of 1:09. First, Purdie knocked home the rebound of a Nikita Kotlov shot to make it 3-1. Then Purdie slipped a ball to Will Bruin on the right side for another score. HOOSIERS 4, BRUINS 1

19:02: The goals come fast and furious. First, UCLA tied it at 1 with a rebound goal that was set up by an IU giveaway. But just as quickly, Indiana countered. Will Bruin was taken down in the box on a long ball off the left wing, drawing a penalty kick. Andy Adlard converted to give IU the lead back. HOOSIERS 2, BRUINS 1

21:09: It’s our first TV timeout today. Indiana has come out sharp once again on the heels of Friday night’s disappointing overtime loss to Cal. UCLA has picked up the attack lately, but nothing terribly threatening so far. HOOSIERS 1, BRUINS 0

36:16: After several great chances that the Hoosiers failed to put away, they finally take advantage of a steal in the back. Andy Adlard hit a left-footed shot from just inside the box on the right side that was flicked by Alec Purdie to the back post where Will Bruin slammed the ball into an open net. HOOSIERS 1, BRUINS 0

The Hoosiers host No. 5 UCLA in today’s IU Classic finale. I’ll keep you updated here and on Twitter — http://twitter.com/JPPrice. Today’s game is also on the Big Ten Network.

  1. Try to cover the full event. Notre Dame played Cal in the other Sunday game. Where is the score for that game?
