Crean: Jones day-to-day with ankle injury

Indiana coach Tom Crean just got off the season’s first Big Ten teleconference. He said junior guard Verdell Jones is day-to-day with his ankle injury. Crean said Jones was very much a game-time decision for Saturday’s game at Kentucky. The injury was clearly aggravated during the game, and he did not play in the second half.

The Hoosiers don’t play again until Friday because of final exams. Crean said he wouldn’t shut Jones down for the whole week, however, unless team doctors and trainers told him that was what should be done.

Crean said he gave the team yesterday off. He has practice time scheduled today and tomorrow but hasn’t decided whether he will actually use it or not.

  1. Shut him down! He’s an out-of-control turnover machine that appears to be infectious to the rest of the team. Yeah, he can sizzle the nets on occasion, but not near enough lately to warrant the careless play.

  2. I’m not saying there’s any connection, but things pretty much went to sh– a couple minutes after he left the game.

  3. Rivers appears to have learned to value the basketball.Jones, for all the good things that he does still makes the same kind of mistakes with the ball that he did two years ago.You ARE NOT going to beat teams like Kentucky doing that.
