STARTING FIVE

1. BIG TEN … LAME DIVISION NAMES

2. INDIANA FOOTBALL

Kevin Wilson will serve as an assistant coach for Oklahoma during the Fiesta Bowl but will not be the play-caller, Dustin wrote.

Wilson continues to look at building up a quality coaching staff over quickly stringing together names, the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel’s Pete DiPrimio wrote.

Tre Roberson nearly gave up on football, but stuck with it and was awarded with the Mr. Football honor on Monday, the Indy Star’s Kyle Neddenriep wrote. Neddenriep also reported that Center Grove DB Nick Stoner is sticking with Indiana.

One of the candidates IU had for its open job, Wisconsin defensive coordinator Dave Doeren, is leaving UW for Northern Illinois, Madison.com’s Tom Mulhern wrote.

3. INDIANA BASKETBALL

Cody Zeller is already behaving and acting like a Hoosier, Andy wrote.

Kelvin Amayo talked to Inside the Hall’s Alex Bozich and said he has an offer from Indiana. He’s a 6-foot-4 guard from NIA Prep in Newark, N.J. that said Indiana has started recruiting him within the last couple of months. Below is a mix tape of his play.

4. BIG TEN BASKETBALL

In my weekly Big Ten power poll, I placed Ohio State on top and moved Indiana up on the basis of a strong effort against Kentucky.

Wisconsin’s forwards were on fire, leading the Badgers to a win against Green Bay, Madison.com’s Rob Schultz wrote.

John Shurna, the Big Ten’s leading scorer, put up 26 on Long Island on Monday, the Chicago Tribune’s Teddy Greenstein wrote.

Several coaches, including Tom Crean, told AnnArbor.com’s Michael Rothstein that Michigan, which plays North Carolina Central today, is one of the early surprises.
