Indiana 79, Savannah State 57

Junior guard Verdell Jones had 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists against five turnovers and Indiana cruised to a sloppy but comfortable 79-57 win over Savannah State in front of 15,837 at Assembly Hall.

Sophomore forward Christian Watford had 14 points while sophomore guards Jordan Hulls and and Maurice Creek had 11 each.

The Hoosiers were never really challenged. They shot 55.3 percent from the field and held Savannah State to 32.7 percent. Forward Josh Montgomery had 15 points for Savannah State and Preston Blackmon had 14, but no one else was in double digits. The Tigers turned the ball over 19 times and Indiana had 26 points off of those turnovers.

The Hoosiers were up 44-28 at halftime and it was never close in the second half.

Freshman guard Victor Oladipo had nine points, five rebounds and two steals. He had two amazingly athletic blocks but was called for fouls on both.

  1. I don’t think Victor was called for the foul, I think one was a block on Danny Moore and the second was a charge drawn by VJIII.

  2. neither of those were fouls on Vic, both were blocking fouls on others as grllin said above, amazing athleticism by VO night in night out!
