Glass monitoring weather situation

The impending snow and ice storm set to hit the Midwest has much of the Big Ten scrambling to make contingency plans for this week’s basketball games. Indiana athletic director Fred Glass said IU will be in constant contact with local authorities to determine how best to handle Wednesday’s home game against Minnesota.

Glass said Kit Klingelhoffer, the assistant athletic director for game management, will be Indiana’s point man on the issue and will be in touch with state police, etc. and will also be in contact with authorities at Minnesota and with game officials to make certain that all necessary parties can safely travel to Bloomington.

By rule, Glass said, the decision to hold or not hold the game is to be made by Indiana in consultation with Minnesota and the Big Ten office. Glass said IU would play the situation as it goes, but did say that if Monroe County declares a state of emergency, the game will be postponed.
