UPDATE, End of Game: Indiana reliever Casey Smith gave up a single to start the ninth but retired the next three to preserve the victory for Indiana, who take down Morehead State, 5-1. IU improves to 25-12 overall.

UPDATE, End of the Eighth Inning: Catcher Dylan Swift ripped a two-out, two-run double in the left-center field gap to the give the Hoosiers a little more comfort heading into the ninth. They lead 5-1.

UPDATE, Middle of the Eighth Inning: Matt Dearden breezed through a 1-2-3 inning in eight pitches. IU leads 3-1 and Morehead State is down to three outs.

UPDATE, End of the Seventh Inning: Indiana catcher Dylan Swift led off with a walk, stole second and made it to third with just one out, but second baseman Micah Johnson and right fielder Josh Lyon struck out to end the inning. IU leads 3-1 heading to the eighth. Matt Dearden comes in to relieve Jonny Hoffman.

UPDATE, Middle of the Seventh Inning: Morehead State got on the board in Jonny Hoffman’s first inning. Third baseman Taylor Davis led off with a single and eventually scored from third when first baseman Michael Fear hit a liner off Hoffman’s leg. IU still leads 3-1.

UPDATE, End of the Sixth Inning: T.C. Knipp drew a two-out walk, but that was the only base runner the Hoosiers got in the sixth. They still lead 3-0, but Drew Leininger is coming out of the game for reliever Johnny Hoffman despite having only thrown 75 pitches in six innings.

UPDATE, Middle of the Sixth Inning: In his first nine appearances, Drew Leininger struck out 17 batters in 33 innings. So far today, he’s struck out 10 through six. He’s now retired 18 straight hitters after allowing the first two to reach base. IU leads 3-0.

UPDATE, End of the Fifth Inning: Indiana was perilously close to running itself out of the fifth inning, but ended up running itself into a run. After a leadoff double, Brian Ritz tagged from second base on a flyout to center field by Dylan Swift. He got a bad jump, the ball wasn’t very deep and the throw beat him to the bag, but it was just wide enough for him to slide in safely. Ritz then scored on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Dustin DeMuth. IU leads 3-0.

UPDATE, Middle of the Fifth Inning: Drew Leininger is starting to look dominant again. He struck out two more batters in the fifth to go to eight on the day. He’s retired 15 straight since allowing a single and a walk to start the game. IU leads 2-0.

UPDATE, End of the Fourth Inning: Alex Dickerson led off the inning with a single and stole second on a botched hit-and-run. First baseman Jerrud Sabourin, IU’s new all-time hit king, flared a double down the left field line to score him to make it 2-0.

UPDATE, End of the First: IU third baseman Dustin DeMuth doubled down the left field line to open the inning, took third base on a passed ball and scored on an RBI groundout by left fielder Alex Dickerson to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.
