CBS: Ryan Taylor has an IU offer … or not

CBSSports.com’s Jeff Goodman is reporting that Ryan Taylor has a visit scheduled to Kansas and that he has an offer from Indiana for the Class of 2011. The former Lawrence North player transferred to Louisville’s Western High School this year.  He had committed to Louisville, but the Cardinals are over committed and he has run into problems qualifying academically.

Goodman reports that Taylor also has offers from South Carolina and West Virginia.

UPDATE, 4:44 p.m.: A source close to the situation told the Herald-Times that Taylor has not received a scholarship offer from Indiana. There was an inquiry by the Hoosiers, but no offer. Goodman also tweeted that he was told by a source that there was not a scholarship offer.

  1. Thank god Crean didn’t offer. IU doesn’t need another wing or someone who has trouble qualifying bringing down the academic progress the program has made. How many more red flags does Kansas need to throw up before the NCAA does an inquiry into their basketball recruiting? If Pitino doesn’t think a kid will qualify at Louisville why is Bill Self so confident in making an offer? Are the academic standards at KU that low? Where are you Mr. Fish? How bout some investigative reporting that is worthwhile.

  2. we don’t need another wing, we need a big nasty seven footer that knows how to defend and rebound and contribute minimally offensively and can pass and see the court well.

  3. Goodman is sporting a high fever if he thinks Coach Crean would offer a kid that doesn’t have the grades to enter L’ville. Or he is blood relation to Fish.
