1. I remember all the scorn being heaped on CTC when he offered a scholly to Will Sheehy. A lot of people were down on VO as well.

  2. Chet you are so right there were so many complaining about both of those kids just being a 3! Said Crean couldn’t recruit–now it looks as though these 2 kids are going to be our leaders! They are fun to watch.

  3. I think Sheehey got the worst of it. Oladipo’s dunk video(w/Creek) quieted the crowd somewhat. I will admit, I thought AE might be questionable. But seeing him play some now, I am a fan.
This team is nowhere near the level that they could play. Yet they played well, smart and unselfish. I see good signs people. This team is definately different than the product we have seen the last few years. Versatility galore. Wait till they are clicking and Watford and Hulls really get going.
Looking forward to seeing how they play against Tenn-Chatt. Can they bring it with one days rest? Will they keep their focus? A good second test. GO HOOSIERS!

  4. Good stuff, guys. You touched on this a bit, but I want to see a team this year that does not need Hulls to score. This team is going to be at its best when Hulls is running the offense and just hitting the occasional open three. With Vic and Will emerging as these scoring threats, this offense could find their groove very soon. Hopefully we can build on this.

  5. I wonder what 4tards has to say about our worthless 2010 out of state recruiting class now? Some people need to fold up their adaidas red sweaters and short shorts and embrace what is going on at Indiana now. Tom Crean and instate highschool players have left little excuse for hoosier nation to be divided. HEAL HOOSIER NATION.

  6. Hope to see Abell get more minutes. The kid looks really solid, moves well on defense, and delivers the ball to the open teammate on penetrations. Love his size and energy. Can’t believe the Scoop guys didn’t mention him over the course of a 10 minute chat. Watched the IDS “Three-Man Weave” discussion and they recognize the quality minutes from Remy.

Good effort by all the Hoosiers last night.

  7. One of the most satisfying parts, for me, was that everyone that got in looked pretty good. As far as production per minutes played, how about AE? Man, he came in and was a scoring machine. This is going to be a very deep team. I agree about Jordy. We don’t need his points but they sure better not leave him open. That was a big problem last year with JR. The defense could play us 5 on 4. No more.

  8. the dynamic of Zeller just being being and talented is huge for us….this kid will average a double double or close…..he sets picks, rebounds, can step out and shoot, finish strong, plays smart, can pass…the thing about zeller is he is the crown jewel to the 2012 class.

  9. ok, we need to start voting on how Ryan wears his hair.

    – high spike to the right
    – high spike to the left
    – faux hawk
    – slick back
    – other

  10. 1) Yeah, 4tards is a gutless coward for vanishing.

    2) Where is the theme music that always started before these videos? It was awesome.

    3) Is there video of that Zeller steal/dunk?

    4) I thought Ryan got the message about his hair because it looked normal in the last video. Now, he’s back to the Flock of Seagulls look, though it’s not as bad as before. If he wants to be taken seriously as a professional, he should look like one.

  11. I take Andy Graham’s hair very seriously. Does anyone remember Korman’s attempt at a hairstyle? I’m never looking at Ryan’s hair because I’m melting in his intoxicating blue eyes.

  12. Indiana did look pretty good…but you guy’s think the corner has been turned and we are on the way to NCAA tournament…folk’s we are a long way from that.IU will be better..but still at best only 16-18 win’s and that won’t get IU anywhere close the the tournament.NIT if we have a great year.Still very weak on defense…and Watford and Jone’s are still lost.Zeller..Will..VO…that is who the team has to be built around.Indiana compared to the last 3 year’s…we look like champion’s…but the truth is..even though there is some improvement…there is still only 5-6 Big Ten win’s this year.Next year there should be major improvement…maybe 20-23 win’s and a trip to the tournament…Crean is doing a great job recruiting…but recruiting and coaching are 2 totally different thing’s.I know a high school coach..now retired…who coached over 35 year’s…had theam’s ranked in the top 20 nearly every year…never won a stste championship…could win 20 game’s a year…but coaching and recruiting are totally seperate.Crean is here for a long time…so I hope he does a great job and Indiana get’s back to winning…but I don’t see us as National contender’s for several year’s yet.

  13. I’m sure you meant to make a point there. What was it? Are you saying the coach was a great recruiter but couldn’t coach? Is it legal to recruit to high schools in Indiana? It’s not in North Carolina. At least not public schools. What did you mean to say other the give a short bio?

  14. Well then I guess Sheehey, VO and Elston really did not get better over the off season as I thought I observed over the last 7 days? Just can’t be so with poor coaching.

  15. I don’t think Hulls needs to score 15 or 20 a game either. What I would like to see is five guys averaging 10 a game. Balanced scoring, multiple options are hard to defend. Our defense will improve. It better if this team wants to have a great season. I thought it showed some potential to be respectable.

  16. A lot of people never understood Watford…Hulls…Elston…Bawa…and Bobby were never listed as game changing players as freshmen….in fact none of them still posess a real all-around game….Zeller is the real deal and he will only get better..he is a game changing player….yogi and hanner will be as well.

  17. Fair point Ben M. I must add, they are better than your average role players. Every player needs to contribute and play hard.

  18. Even a few hours before yesterday’s game I heard and read references to the class of 2010 as the ‘weakest class’ (in many, many years, the weakest of TC’s ….blah, blah. Oladipo and Sheheey…what a disappointing class!!

While I respect and think the new class (and next year’s) are potentially good, they’ll have to go some before they compare favorably to the value of the 2010 class.

  19. Maybe they really were as weak as all the naysayers claimed and they are just performing at a higher level than they expected because they were well coached. That’s the only answer if they were right to begin with.

They have a conundrum to sort out.

  20. Chet, you are so correct about the naysayers/haters having a conundrum to sort out. Which is it – Crean is a genius at recognizing talent in unappreciated players OR he is a genius at coaching up average players. But, the problem they may overlook in their logic if they chose the first rather than the latter, is that for someone to be a genius at recognizing talent in unappreciated players, that someone has to know a whole lot about the game of basketball. So, either way I think it means that someone is a pretty good coach. Will and Victor rest my case.

  21. Hmmm, where oh where is For Real? Odd he wouldn’t be here sharing his observations. Probably overwhelmed with looking for some minute detail from the season opener to harp on as pure evidence that our coach and team actually do suck.

  22. Barring an undefeated season we’ll hear plenty from him. After each loss he’ll jump right in there to open our eyes to CTC’s failings.

  23. Slightly off topic but only slightly. Did everyone see Evansville beat Butler in OT today? Smith missed two free throws with a tie game .9 seconds left or so in regulation. Doh.

  24. Well, we’ll play both Butler and Evansville pretty soon and we will find out how good they are. It would be a wonderful thing if we blew both teams out like we did Stoney. It’s about time the state’s collegiate basketball was set right.

  25. Its early but after two games we look solid. If you consider the half time adjustments in both games you cant help but to be excited. You can only think wat will come around and add him in to the mix and yes this is a solid big ten team. I watched Illinois Mich.St and Nw play and I think we look as good as all three. Evansville will be a big test for us. They are a solid team and have a brand new stadium that needs to be filled every game.

  26. Nice post. I be taught something more difficult on totally different blogs everyday.
