IU RecruitWatch: This weekend’s slate

Monty Howell | Herald-Times

Looking to watch future and prospective Hoosiers hit the hardwood tonight? Here’s your weekend slate for each of Indiana’s recruits and targets. As always, directions listed are from Bloomington.

Yogi Ferrell (Park Tudor): Ferrell and Co. (including 2014 target Trevon Bluiett) take on fairly mediocre competition in Triton Central on Saturday and have been on a tear since their last-second loss to Roncalli. It shouldn’t be much different in this one for Ferrell. Directions to Triton Central are here.

Jeremy Hollowell (Lawrence Central): If you’re living in Bloomington, tonight might be the night to catch Hollowell, considering he and the Bears will head to Bloomington South tonight to take on the local Panthers. South is still ranked high, but Hollowell should score a bunch in this one. I’m assuming (and hoping) you don’t need directions to this one. Starts at 7:30 p.m.

Ron Patterson (Broad Ripple): Patterson and the Rockets will take on Indianapolis Northwest at 7:30 p.m. at home tonight, a team that’s only loss this year came to Ben Davis. Directions to Broad Ripple are here.

Hanner Perea (La Lumiere): La Lumiere continues the prep school circuit through North Carolina where Perea will take on Body of Christ (N.C.) in Durham. Perea won’t be back in Indiana to play until Jan. 10.

Peter Jurkin (UFCA): UFCA has won three in a row and Jurkin has done fairly well in those games, scoring more than he did last season. Jurkin takes on Kinston (N.C.) this weekend.

Devin Davis (Warren Central): Davis and the Warriors lost a heartbreaker the last time out, a triple-overtime thriller to Avon. But they’ll be looking to bounce back against Ben Davis tonight at 7:30 p.m. Directions to Warren Central are here.

Collin Hartman (Cathedral): With Cathedral’s only loss coming to Trey Lyles and Tech, Cathedral is looking good early on. Along with 2015 target Jalen Coleman, Hartman will take on Lafayette Catholic Central, a 1A opponent, tonight at home at 7:30 p.m. Directions to Cathedral are here.

James Blackmon Jr. (Bishop Luers): Blackmon Jr. has been a scoring tear as of late, and Luers will be looking to bounce back after a close loss to Anderson. Blackmon’s team has a two-matchup weekend, one on Friday at 7:30 against FW Concordia (directions are here) and the other Saturday night at a time to be determined, at Indianapolis Howe (directions are here).

Trey Lyles (Arsenal Tech): I’ve reported to this blog on Lyles’ performance before, and he’ll get another chance to shine against a struggling Indianapolis Washington team. Tip is at 7:30 p.m. at Washington. Directions are here.

Targets to watch

2013 Bo Zeigler (Detroit Community): Won’t play until Dec. 28, but Community is undefeated and Zeigler has done well.

2013 Derek Willis (Bullitt East, Ky.): Willis’ undefeated Chargers will faceoff against undefeated Central tonight at 7:30 in what should be a pretty good matchup for Willis to start the King of the Bluegrass Tournament.

2013 BeeJay Anya (DeMatha, Md.): A battle of DeMatha will take place in Indianapolis on Saturday with Victor Oladipo and Notre Dame’s Jerian Grant taking the court at Conseco. Anya, however, sticks in D.C. this weekend against an Archbishop Carroll team that has lost its last two. DeMatha is currently 4-0.

2013 Luke Fischer (Germantown, Wisc.): Fischer’s team is on break until after the new year, according to MaxPreps.

2014 Jaquan Lyle (Evansville Bosse): Lyle takes on Cody Zeller’s former team, who is struggling without him this season at just 3-2. The game is at Washington, which I hear is a pretty great environment for a high school basketball game. Tip is at 7:30 p.m. Directions are here.

2014 Cliff Alexander (Chicago Curie): Alexander’s team has been pretty unstoppable thus far this season, winning last night by almost 30 points. They won’t take on an opponent until Robeson on Tuesday.

2014 Grant Evans (Wapahani): Wapahani will look to bounce back from a bad loss to New Castle with a terrible team in Wes-Del at 7:30 tonight. Directions are here.
