IU vs its competition for No. 4 seed

At this point, there are no more ifs. The last game on the docket before Tournament selection is the Big Ten Championship between Michigan State and Ohio State. The NCAA Tournament selection committee has apparently already drawn up a bracket with contingency plans for that, and regardless, it doesn’t affect Indiana’s seeding at all.

Earlier games today probably did, however. Florida State won the ACC title after beating North Carolina and Duke in consecutive days and Vanderbilt joined Indiana as the second team this year to beat No. 1 Kentucky.

So now, the selection committee has complete resumes to look at. Here’s how Indiana’s stacks up compared to the other teams they’ll be measured against. RPI numbers are the latest I could find and most likely will be slightly different based on today’s events.

  1. I think Kaintuck has an easy bracket.

    Duke……over-rated.

    Notre Dame……over-rated.

    Baylor…..over-rated.

  2. Semi-hard bracket for UNC.

I think they’re handing the Title to Kaintuck with the easiest bracket I’ve seen in awhile.

  3. I agree that MSU has a brutal bracket. I love Mizzou, and I think that they meet Marquette in the Elite 8 with the winner beating MSU to go to the Final Four.

I also agree that the South is the weakest bracket, which I think is great for IU…

I can see a scenario where UConn beats UK and then IU advances to meet either Duke or Baylor – 2 teams I think are over-rated – and wins to go to the Final 4.

Don’t think it happens, but I think that UK has the toughest potential 2nd round game.

Does anyone really think that Syracuse can beat OSU?

I don’t see KU beating UNC if Henson is healthy… I’d actually worry more about Temple.

My initial feeling is UNC over Mizzou 87-78… But it hinges on Henson’s health.
