Knight coming to Greenwood

Bob Knight’s public speaking forays seem to be drawing him ever closer to Bloomington. According to a press release, the former IU coach will be the keynote speaker at a Greenwood Public Library fundraiser on Oct. 18 in conjunction with former Hoosier stars and Greenwood natives Tom and Dick Van Arsdale, who are honoring their mother. Proceeds from the event will go to the Friends of the Greenwood Public Library’s newly established Hilda Van Arsdale Library Fund. Here’s the relevant part of the rest of the release:

Long time library supporter Bob Knight will address a projected 3000-4000 Hoosier basketball fans on October 18th at the Gathering Place in Greenwood. Tickets priced from $100 to $250 will go on sale mid-May, and may raise as much as $500,000 for the Hilda Van Arsdale Library Fund.

  1. Within 3-4 years I predict Knight will be in Assembly Hall. It is just a matter of time. It needs to happen. He will get a 5 minute standing ovation, or longer.

  2. Knight will be a part of IU Basketball when the University starts efforts for a new basketball arena. He is the right person to speak at the Library fundraiser.

  3. Hoosha, you couldn’t have sais it better I think a lot of people feel that way, even if you weren’t a real fan of his you have to kind of miss him.

  4. I don’t miss him one single bit.

He was a complete jacka$$ hypocrite who was mailing it in.

  5. The debate will never end as long as their are Hoosier BB fans that were alive when Knight coached at IU.

Frankly, I’m tired of the debate and only hope that IU BB returns to the prominence that Knight established when he was in his prime. Those were great days for all Hoosier fans.

One thing you have to give him though; Knight was never boring.

  6. If CTC is able to bring home a banner next season a lot of the luster will wear off RMK. Pitino has only gotten Louisville to the Final Four but I don’t hear Cards fans pining away for Denny Crum. He did win two titles.
