Hoosier Morning

1. HOOSIERS HQ
Running back Venric Mark is the spark the Northwestern offense has been missing, Dustin writes.

The Big Ten football opener, Hoosier Hysteria and another tough loss for IU soccer were topics in Thursday’s IU sports chat with Andy and Dustin.

2. IT’S INDIANA
Cody Zeller might be a good fit for the Phoenix Suns in the 2013 NBA Draft, Matthew Wu of Sun’n’Gun speculates.

Quarterbacks Cam Coffman and Nate Sudfeld will need to be on their game if IU is to beat Northwestern, Pete DiPrimio of the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel writes.

3. BIG TEN COUNTRY
League-wide misery makes this a season to forget in the Big Ten, Loren Tate of the Champaign News-Gazette writes.

4. ONE FOR THE ROAD
With the Hoosiers, not to mention Andy and Dustin, headed north to Evanston this weekend, here’s “Truenorth,” by No-Man.

  1. Big10 misery? As DD stated in the “live chat” after acknowledging LSU and the Tide the fortunes of the SEC are unceertain.

  2. True, HC, but I wouldn’t suggest that the Big Ten is having a good year. I was making a point that everything is cyclical and even with the string of titles being acknowledged, the SEC is not immune. The Big Ten is not going to wake up in November and be the Big East, but the Big Ten is clearly is an down cycle. It’s not a good deal when your best team is ineligible for postseason.

  3. Key word “cyclical” is absolutely correct. I would add anybody who thinks MSU, Wisky and the Huskers look in the 2nd half of the season remotely as they have looked early on does not know much about those 3 coaching staffs. They can improve and transition with O and D as fast as anyone in the country. A dominate bowl game is ahead for 1 of the 3.
