IU women net verbal commitment from Jenna Allen

Indiana coach Curt Miller received his first commitment for the Class of 2015 tonight, picking up a verbal pledge from Bedford North Lawrence forward Jenna Allen.

Allen, who stands at 6-foot-3 entering her junior season this fall, averaged 14 points and eight rebounds last year, while helping the Stars to the Class 4A state championship. According to Justin Sokeland at TheHHCSports.com, Allen chose IU after visiting Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana State, Butler, Purdue and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

We’ll have more online tonight and in print tomorrow.

  1. GOOD NEWS!
Those of us in Bloomington can actually see her play a game or two at Bedford, and she can come to a whole bunch of IU games up here.
And, IU beat out three other Big Ten schools. Can’t get much better than this.

  2. This is a great get for coach Miller! This girl is a stud! Anyone who saw her in the state championship game would have to agree. This is just further proof that Our AD made the right choice in coach Miller and his staff! Things are most definitely looking up! Go Hoosiers!

  3. My daughter has played against Jenna for a couple of years now and she is pretty good. A versatile player that can play great defense. Welcome to IU, Jenna!

  4. Coach Miller continues to impress! Now he needs some good magic to eliminate serious injuries to his excellent transfers.

  5. Mike, your last sentence in the posting last night said,”We will have more online tonight and in print tomorrow.” Still waiting…..since I am in Kokomo and don’t subscribe to the Bloomington paper, This website is what I count on for IU news, where is the more on Allen we were promiced??

    1. MikeC,
More online and in print generally implies the subscription product. Mike did link the HHCSports story, which is not terribly different from the story we ultimately ran.

  6. This is VERY exciting! I attended many of BNL’s games last season (and plan to again this season), and the talent level on that team is amazing. I was disappointed to see many of BNL’s players committing to other teams… so glad that one of their (many) standouts will be heading to IU! Incredible news – I will be looking forward to seeing Allen play her last 2 years at BNL, and then excited to see her debut at IU in 2015! This is a tremendous recruit for Coach Miller.

  7. Just wondering who is recruiting Allen’s Bedford North’s team mate Mcbride? Has she indicated who is recruiting her and is IU in the hunt? She is also a stud!

    1. Dominique McBryde committed to Purdue over the summer. Alexa Bailey, Damon’s daughter, has committed to Butler and Brittany Rizzi actually decommitted from Evansville.

  8. Jeremy, thanks for the update. I had not heard any of this information before. It’s a real shame that Dominique chose Purdue. But, good for her, they certainly are a quality program which is where we will be in the near future with coach Miller and his staff leading us. Go Hoosiers!!

  9. Well iuhoosier1992, there is no doubt in my mind that our program is headed in the direction that will make us serious contenders in our conference every year! Coach Miller and his staff are the real deal! It is quite obvious the recruiting has picked up big time since the coach has arrived! As this program moves along and the wins come on a more consistent basis, the higher level recruits will look our way like they never have in the past. This coaching staff with their energy and enthusiasm will continue to make a huge difference for us. Mr Glass made a great move in his hiring of coach Miller! The previous coach, although a very nice lady was a horrible recruiter and a poor game coach. We now, as stated before have the real deal! Thank you AD Glass. The future is so bright we may need sunglasses! Go Hoosiers!!
