IU soccer slips to No. 8

On the heels of Sunday’s 1-0 overtime loss to UCLA, the Indiana men’s soccer team dropped from No. 1 to No. 8 in the NSCAA rankings on Tuesday.

North Carolina, which beat the Hoosiers 1-0 in the preseason, assumed the top spot in the rankings with IU Classic champion Notre Dame No. 4 and the Bruins No. 6. Louisville is No. 7, just ahead of IU, and the Hoosiers’ opponent this Friday night, UAB, enters the rankings at No. 18.

The Blazers, coached by former Hoosier Mike Getman, were already on IU’s mind in the moments after Sunday’s game. “I’m not concerned one bit about this team,” defender Kerel Bradford said. “We didn’t get the result, but we’re going to channel that into this upcoming game on Friday.”
