IU women vs. Central Arkansas

FINAL: Indiana 80, Central Arkansas 53. 3rd 80-point game of the year for Indiana. Hoosiers shoot 46% from field, 47% from 3. Larryn Brooks leads IU with 15 points.

Under-4: Indiana 73, Sugar Bears 46. Andrea Newbauer playing very well. She hasn’t seen the floor all night until the 7:42 mark of the second half. She has a steal and an assist in four minutes.

Under-8: Indiana 64, Sugar Bears 41. Taylor Agler only starter not to score so far. Alexis Gassion, who’s set a new high with 9 points, has impressed. Really athletic, rangy, can do a bit of everything in this offense.

Under-12: Indiana 56, Sugar Bears 34. Hoosiers’ offense shooting at a 42 percent clip.

Under-16: Indiana 49, Sugar Bears 31. Simone Deloach with an and-1 before the break. She’ll shoot two.

HALFTIME: Indiana 39, Sugar Bears 25. Larryn Brooks hits a 3 to beat the buzzer. She and Sasha Chaplin each lead Indiana with 8 points. Hoosiers have eight different scorers. Alexis Gassion has 7.

Under-4: Suddenly, Indiana can’t miss. The Hoosiers went scoreless from the field from 14:57 to 8:57, but have answered with a bevy of 3-pointers to build a 34-22 lead over the Sugar Bears. Indiana is 5-for-10 from beyond the arc, with all of its 3s coming since Nicole Bell hit back-to-back 3-balls around the 8:30 mark.

Under-8: Sugar Bears leave Nicole Bell wide open on back-to-back trips down the floor and she hits 3s both times. IU’s lead now 21-12 at 8:01.

Under-12: Indiana 12, Sugar Bears 8. Lots of contact underneath the basket on both sides, but no whistles. The officials are at least consistent. Nicole Bell checks in for Larryn Brooks.

Under-16: Indiana 8, Sugar Bears 4. Sasha Chaplin with 4 points, 1 reb, 1 charge taken. She actually tried taking charges on back-to-back possessions. It worked the first time, not the second. Getting her going early is always a good thing. So far, so good.

PREGAME: Indiana kicks off a five-game homestand tonight against Central Arkansas. Kaila Hulls is not dressed and will miss her second consecutive game with a bruised right knee — the same knee that’s been surgically repaired twice.
IU received some disappointing news earlier in the day when top 2014 target Kia Nurse chose Connecticut over Indiana and Penn State. She would have been a big get for Curt Miller.
Alas, there’s basketball to play. I’ll have updates here and on Twitter, where you can follow me @BowieMike.
