Indiana beats Illinois 56-46 in rockfight

Indiana sophomore point guard Yogi Ferrell scored 17 points and hit six critical free throws to give Indiana a 56-46 win over Illinois in front of 17,472 at Assembly Hall on Sunday.

Freshman guard Stanford Robinson added 10 points and freshman forward Noah Vonleh had four points and 14 rebounds.

The Fighting Illini matched a season low for points by and Indiana opponent, matching Evansville’s total. Their 33.3 field goal percentage was the lowest by an Indiana opponent in Big Ten play. Junior guard Rayvonte Rice scored 20 points, but he was the only Illinois player in double figures and one of just three Illinois players to hit more than one field goal.

The Hoosiers won the rebounding battle 42-28, grabbing 33 defensive rebounds while allowing Illinois just four on its offensive end. The Fighting Illini finished with zero second-chance points.

  1. If Robinson were to develop an outside shot- look out! But then again, with his driving skills, who cares.
