DeMuth named Big Ten Player of the Week

From IU Sports Info:

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior third baseman Dustin DeMuth became the second straight Hoosier, and third this season, to earn Big Ten Player of the Week honors. DeMuth’s stellar play guided IU to a 3-1 week that included the road series sweep at Ohio State over the weekend.

The conference has awarded 17 Big Ten Player and Pitcher of the Week honors in 2014. Indiana leads the way with six selections, twice as many as the next closest (3; Iowa and Nebraska).

DeMuth continued his recent tear, extending his current hitting streak to 14 straight games. DeMuth batted .529 for the week with two home runs, two doubles and five RBI while slugging 1.000 and reaching base at a .556 clip (1.566 OPS). He was also pretty defensively, posting a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage while starting all four road games at the hot corner. DeMuth recorded multiple hits in three of four contests and drove in a pair twice.
