Griffith released from hospital per father’s Twitter post

Isaac Griffith has been discharged from Sarasota Memorial Hospital six days after a swimming accident at Siesta Key Beach caused him to be put into a medically induced coma, his father Shannon posted on his Twitter account.

“Great day,” the elder Griffith said. “Isaac has been discharged from Sarasota Memorial and we have started our journey back to Indiana. Kim and I are so very thankful for everyone who lifted our son up in their prayers, the hospital staff and Sarasota for helping two strangers in need.”

The elder Griffith posted two pictures of his son smiling in a wheelchair outside the hospital as the Griffiths were preparing to leave. Then Isaac posted on Twitter for the first time since the incident.

“Nothing more to say except I’m blessed,” Griffith said. “Indiana, I’m on my way home today. I can’t thank everyone enough for their support in these past few days for me and my family. I can’t say enough how grateful I am. God’s got a plan for everything.”
