Morehead State at Indiana, Game 1.

Top 9th: Jake Kelzer struck out a pair of batters to close out Indiana’s 13-1 win. The Hoosiers have won eight straight and left-hander Joey DeNato is the new all-time wins leader at IU with 31 in his career.

Bottom 8th: IU shortstop Chad Clark doubled to left to tack a run on. Indiana leads 13-1.

Top 8th: Morehead State again went down 1-2-3 in the eighth. IU leads 12-1.

Bottom 7th: Austin Cangelosi and Evan Bell managed singles in the seventh, but Indiana didn’t add any runs. The Hoosiers still lead 12-1.

Top 7th: Sullivan Stadler made quick work of Morehead State in the seventh, retiring the Eagles in order. The Hoosiers lead 12-1.

Bottom 6th: Indiana batted around in the sixth despite entering six pinch hitters. Austin Cangelosi hit for Casey Rodrigue and led off with a single, then took second and third base on wild pitch. Kyle Schwarber drew a walk and then Sam Travis drove both in by rifling a double down the left field line. Luke Cureton drew a walk and left fielder Brad Hartong drew a walk to load the bases. then Ricky Alfonso drew another to bring in Travis. Shortstop Chad Clark drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to center and Indiana leads 12-1.

Top 6th: Joey DeNato came out after five for left-handed reliever Brian Korte. Korte cruised through the sixth with a strikeout. IU still leads 8-1.

Bottom 5th: Dustin DeMuth singled and Brad Hartong walked to start the fifth and they moved to second on an errant pickoff throw but were both stranded in the fifth. IU still leads 8-1.

Top 5th: Joey DeNato issued a two-out walk but otherwise cruised and recorded his fourth strikeout. Indiana leads 8-1 and DeNato will break the all-time IU wins record if the Hoosiers hold on.

Bottom 4th: Tim O’Conner drew a walk and moved to second on an excellent bunt by Casey Rodrigue. Catcher Kyle Schwarber singled through the right side of the infield to score him. Again, Sam Travis followed by hitting a mammoth home run over the scoreboard in left center field. IU now leads 8-1.

Top 4th: Third  baseman Jeff Birkofer rushed a 3-2 pitch from Joey DeNato off the top of the left field wall, but umpires ruled that it didn’t clear the wall and he ended up with a double that put runners on second and third with no one out. Morehead State second baseman Blaine Tanner brought a run home with an RBI groundout, but that was the only run DeNato allowed. The Hoosiers still lead 5-1.

Bottom 3rd: Indiana catcher Kyle Schwarber led off the third with a triple, then scored when first baseman Sam Travis hit a missle over the left center field wall to make it 5-0 IU. Third baseman Dustin DeMuth also singled and is hitting just short of .400 for the year.

Top 3rd: Brandon Rawe managed a two-out single against Joey DeNato, but Brad Hartong made a diving play on a line drive by Chris Robinson to end the inning. IU still leads 3-0.

Bottom 2nd: Chad Clark drew a one-out walk in the second, but Luke Humphreys cruised otherwise in the second. IU still leads 3-0.

Top 2nd: DeNato gave up a two-out walk but otherwise cruised through the second. IU leads 3-0.

Bottom 1st: Two-out lightning got the Hoosiers three runs in the first. First baseman Sam Travis reached on an error with two outs, then stole second base to give the Hoosiers a runner in scoring position for designated hitter Scott Donley. Donley lined  a single up the middle to get the Hoosiers on the board. Dustin DeMuth followed with a two-run home run to right field to give the Hoosiers a 3-0 lead.

Top 1st: Joey DeNato gave up a pair of two-out singles but got out of the inning unscathed. Scoreless through a half inning.
