Nebraska advances to Saturday

Nebraska left-fielder Michael Pritchard doubled to left center to score Jake Placzek in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and give the No. 2 seed Cornhuskers a 3-2 win over No. 6 seed Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday.

With the win, the Cornhuskers bypass Friday’s elimination games and play next on Saturday. They will play the winner of Friday’s elimination game between Iowa and the loser of tonight’s Michigan-Indiana game. Michigan State plays Illinois in an elimination game Friday at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Nebraska center fielder Ryan Boldt drove in two runs with two hits. Pitcher Aaron Bummer struck out seven batters in seven innings to get the win. Zach Hirsch pitched two scoreless innings to get the save.
